January 31, Well I made it through my first month on Dallies. It was harder than I though it would be but it has been a great experience so far. Thank you to all who have offered their thoughts and comments. Hearing your encouragement and seeing all the fantastic work displayed in the community has challenged and motivated me to keep plugging away.<br />

Not my best technically but I walked up on this guy unexpectedly as he was grabbing a fish. He then took a victory lap over the river and around the river front skyline. it was very late in the afternoon and a real stretch for my Simga 50mm-500mm f 4-6.3. Only got one usable out of the string of many shots...better than nothing. Thanks again for your inspiration.

  • February 1, Went to photograph eagles yesterday but there was only one. Because of the recent warm weather they have already dispersed up and down the river. That is why I was able to catch yesterday's shot of one over the city. I was inspired by Donna's comments yesterday to pull out a shot I did several weeks ago and rework it. This is a composite done in PP but all that was necessary was to eliminate some of the distance between foreground flag and the eagle. The flag is in fact at the top of the cliff side viewing area.

  • March 2, Not the greatest shot technically since this is a crop of an 800mm shot but I thought it was unique enough to post and I just plain like it ;-)
  • February 27, Not the greatest composit but I am just learning photoshop. This is the eagle from the shot of down town in last month's daily. I moved him to a more classic river shot but not sure if it works. Input on improvements is more than welcome.
  • February 13, A cold but beautiful day today...Caught this guy resting above the river this morning. He was equally interested in me. The trees along the river edge are not the best for shooting unobstructed views.

Fantastic shot -- so unusual to see a shot like this with an urban landscape in the background.

My sister just gave me a photography book on Waterbirds by Theodore Cross. Have you seen it? It's quite fantastic, and I think you would like it.

This is a very impressive image to me, and thanks for sharing. I've yet to have the opportunity to take an eagle shot.

Good catch for both him and you..... surprised... but good to see our Eagle surviving so close to populated areas.

Too bad about the background because he is gorgeous! I'll bet you could "select" him out of that image and put him in a whole new one very easily. You'd think I'd done it before but, I haven't. If this was my image, I'd be learning how to do that and placing him/her on a beautiful blue sky or sunset or something! Very nice.
