ccpix > February 18, Illinois is fast becoming a center for wind energy. These new wind farms make for an unusual combination of traditional and futuristic. Some believe they clutter the landscape but I think they bring unusual beauty.

BTW that is heat shimmer coming off the corn on the wind turbine not a focus issue
ccpix > March 7, Another post from the Washington trip. This statue is located in front of the Smithsonian Castle. It is Joseph Henry (17 December 1797 – 13 May 1878). He was an American scientist who served as the first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, as well as a founding member of the National Institute for the Promotion of Science, a precursor of the Smithsonian Institution. The SI unit of inductance, the henry, is named in his honor, as are derivative units such as the millihenry and microhenry. Henry's work on the electromagnetic relay was the basis of the electrical telegraph, invented by Samuel Morse and Charles Wheatstone separately.
ccpix > January 18th, Woke up yesterday and everything was blanketed in a layer of frozen fog...lots of beautiful ice crystals covering most everything. This was one of my favorite captures.
ccpix > March 13, Still working on the hundreds of shots of Washington from last week. The distance from the Washington Monument in the foreground to the Capitol in the background is over 1 1/2 miles so I was pleased with the way this shot came together. It is HDR but the relationship between the subjects was not enhanced in PP. Have a great Saturday.
ccpix > February 6, SP of my "ride of a lifetime" abord Andy Anderson's BAC 167 Strikemaster at the Prairie Air Show. I have had the wonderful opportunity to fly in a variety of aircraft including hot air balloons, gliders, open air cockpit vintage bi-planes but this was my first jet fighter. It was incredible.
ccpix > February 16, So this eagle just flew by and really, I swear it was at LEAST this big!
ccpix > February 28, Peoria Holocaust Memorial: A collection of 6 Million buttons, encased in glass columns shaped like the star of David representing those who lost their lives in the Holocaust
ccpix > January 29, Another shot from my shoot last evening. The temperature was 11 Degrees and I quickly learned that 11 degrees at night is colder than 11 degrees during the day...for some reason. This image is from a waterfront park along the Illinois River. I have been waiting for the river to freeze over for some shots of river ice but up to this point it has been too warm to freeze solid. That may change over the last few days. The camera performed well in the cold...can't say the same for the photographer.
ccpix > January 9, It was -11 degrees Saturday morning so I was not going to venture too far from the warmth of the fireplace. I did want to try to capture the stillness and depth of the extreme cold. This is the view out of the window in front of my computer. This is an HDR to try to bring out starkness of the cold against the warmth of the trees and remaining leaves.
