February 12th, Lincoln's Birthday...John McClarey, an internationally known Lincoln sculptor from Decatur, Illinois, was commissioned to create this exceptional bronze statue called Lincoln Draws the Line, to commemorate one of Lincoln's most powerful speeches on his opposition to the expansion of slavery, given on October 16, 1854 on the grounds of the Peoria courthouse. On October 14, 2001, this statue was placed near the actual location of the speech.
