ccpix > February 8th, A wonderful festival each year is "Feast of the Hunter's Moon" in West Lafayette, Indiana draws hundreds of period players and talented artisans. There are many Black Smiths turning out beautiful pieces.
ccpix > March 1, A follow up to yesterday's shot of Peoria's Holocaust Memorial. This shot explains it a little better than I did. This is a composite of the memorial plaque and a close up of some of the 6 million buttons.
ccpix > March 14, Found this unique "sculpture" today along a country road in Illinois farm country. It was several miles from anything. It sits in a corn field that currently has some standing water due to the rain and snow melt. It just screamed "Shoot Me"
ccpix > March 18, A look at Ben Franklin standing in front of the Old Post Office in Washington DC. Built in 1899 it was the first government building to have (fittingly) its own power plant. The tower stands 315 feet tall and also proudly houses the official United States Bells of Congress, a bicentennial gift from England celebrating the end of the Revolutionary War. The Washington Ringing Society sounds the Bells of Congress every Thursday evening and on special occasions.
ccpix > February 18, Illinois is fast becoming a center for wind energy. These new wind farms make for an unusual combination of traditional and futuristic. Some believe they clutter the landscape but I think they bring unusual beauty.

BTW that is heat shimmer coming off the corn on the wind turbine not a focus issue
ccpix > March 13, Still working on the hundreds of shots of Washington from last week. The distance from the Washington Monument in the foreground to the Capitol in the background is over 1 1/2 miles so I was pleased with the way this shot came together. It is HDR but the relationship between the subjects was not enhanced in PP. Have a great Saturday.
ccpix > March 9, Produced 5 hours of live TV programming (Anual Easter Seals Telethon) Saturday evening and this was a different angle on one of the chandeliers in the hotel ballroom.
ccpix > March 7, Another post from the Washington trip. This statue is located in front of the Smithsonian Castle. It is Joseph Henry (17 December 1797 – 13 May 1878). He was an American scientist who served as the first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, as well as a founding member of the National Institute for the Promotion of Science, a precursor of the Smithsonian Institution. The SI unit of inductance, the henry, is named in his honor, as are derivative units such as the millihenry and microhenry. Henry's work on the electromagnetic relay was the basis of the electrical telegraph, invented by Samuel Morse and Charles Wheatstone separately.
ccpix > January 18th, Woke up yesterday and everything was blanketed in a layer of frozen fog...lots of beautiful ice crystals covering most everything. This was one of my favorite captures.
